The old world order was marked by unprecedented growth, it concentrated economic wealth and political capital in the hands of a few nations. The old incumbents are now engaged in protracted “tech wars” with ascendant actors. Consequently, the unfettered globalisation of the past decades is giving way to an era of gated globalisation, marked by the delicate balance between national security and prosperity on the one hand and trusted, reliable partnerships with “likeminded” countries on the other.
ORF America Executive Director Dhruva Jaishankar moderated a panel titled ‘The New Great Game: Technology Cooperation in an Era of Gated Globalisation’ at CyFy 2021. Joining him were James Andrew Lewis, Senior Vice President, Center for Strategic and International Studies, Abdul-Hakeem Ajijola Chairman, Consultancy Support Services Limited, Lisa Curtis, Senior Fellow & Director, Indo-Pacific Security Program, Centre for a New American Security, and C. Rajamohan Director, Institute of South Asian Studies, National University of Singapore.
