ORF America was mentioned in an article by Listrik Indonesia on IBSA collaboration in accelerating Indonesia's energy transition:
Satya Widya Yudha, a member of the Indonesian National Energy Council (DEN), proposed that Indonesia explore strengthening cooperation with the IBSA group (India, Brazil, and South Africa) to build a clean trade architecture and a more resilient clean energy technology supply chain in the Global South.
Satya made the proposal while speaking at a forum organized by the Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia (FPCI) in collaboration with ORF America. The forum was also attended by the Indian Ambassador to Indonesia, H.E. Sandeep Chakravorty, and the Brazilian Ambassador to Indonesia, H.E. George Monteiro Prata.
According to Satya, Indonesia now has a strong legal basis for implementing the energy transition through Government Regulation (PP) Number 40 of 2025 concerning National Energy Policy. This regulation serves as a national roadmap towards energy security and decarbonization.
He explained that the government is targeting a New and Renewable Energy (EBT) mix of 19-23 percent by 2030 and increasing to 70-72 percent by 2060.
At the same time, Indonesia is targeting peak emissions in 2035, reducing emissions by 129 million tons of COâ‚‚ equivalent, and achieving Net Zero Emissions (NZE) by 2060.
"These targets require Indonesia to maximize the use of new and renewable energy, reduce dependence on fossil fuels, optimize natural gas as a transitional energy, and prepare for the use of nuclear energy as part of the future energy mix," Satya said.
He added that the PP also regulates financing support through the APBN, APBD, private investment, and international funding. In addition, the government also provides support to SOEs and other business entities and prepares human resource development to support the national energy transition.
