Young Professionals Event: Deal or No Deal: U.S. Trade Policy in 2025

On December 9, ORF America hosted a Briefings & Beer on trade policy and tariffs. The conversation broadly examined tariffs as a tool of purpose, the evolution of the legal basis for presidential authority (including powers derived from IEEPA), immediate economic impacts of recent tariffs, the differences between tariffs like section 232, 301, and 201, antidumping/countervailing duties, and ordinary tariff schedules. The discussion also looked at how major trading partners have responded thus far.
