Former associate fellow & program manager
Abagail Lawson was an Associate Fellow and Program Manager at ORF America from 2020 to 2022, where she was responsible for implementing the activities of the ORF America Cyberspace Cooperation Initiative and contributing to research on international stability in cyberspace and issues at the intersection of technology and policy.
Prior to joining ORF America, Ms. Lawson was part of the EastWest Institute's Global Cooperation in Cyberspace program, where she supported multilateral dialogues and policy research aimed at increasing the stability and security of cyberspace. She supported the work of the Global Commission on the Stability of Cyberspace, and contributed to publications addressing technology policy challenges including securing smart cities, balancing encryption and law enforcement access to data, and mitigating systemic cyber risk.
Ms. Lawson began her career working alongside the United Nations, focusing on conflict resolution and international human rights as well as UN reform issues. She served as Coordinator of the NGO Working Group on the Security Council, where she facilitated relationships between civil society organizations and the member states on the Security Council in order to promote information-sharing and collaboration on efforts to resolve conflict and build peace worldwide.
Ms. Lawson has a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Dayton and a master's degree in diplomacy and international relations from Seton Hall University.
