When then Prime Minister Shinzo Abe of Japan introduced the concept of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP)” in a speech to the Indian Parliament in 2007, he advocated for an Indo-Pacific based on shared values, economic collaboration, maritime security, and the establishment of a rules-based order. The Raisina Roundtable @ Tokyo aims to drive the FOIP vision forward by strengthening broader cooperation and connectivity between India and Japan in a number of different areas, including security, economics, technology, and people-to-people exchanges.
The Raisina Roundtable @ Tokyo brings together government representatives and business leaders from Japan, India, and like-minded regional partners. Underscoring the strategic importance of the Quad in the Indo-Pacific region, it serves as a pivotal platform to build consensus on critical issues, forge new partnerships, and enhance economic ties.
The inaugural Raisina Roundtable @ Tokyo took place on March 6 and 7, 2024, in Tokyo, Japan. The conference was jointly hosted by ORF America, Observer Research Foundation (ORF), Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) and Keizai Doyukai.
